What’s New for the 2018 Jeep Compass?
One of the most affordable Jeeps, the 2018 Jeep Compass has improved its quality and features for 2018. The revised hood is a clamshell design with a special hood bulge. The gloss black grille highlights its seven slots with chrome. Most striking, the crossover has increased its glass-to-wheel proportions. Jeep enthusiasts will be excited about a new open-air dual-pane sunroof on this affordable ride. Also revised, the cabin boasts better materials, a more welcoming design, and contemporary technologies. There are more color schemes, letting you choose Cattle Tan, Ruby Red or other hues to balance black upholstery. You can also get a Sandstorm color scheme. A pinch-and-zoom touchscreen lets you control your streaming audio entertainment. Backseat passengers will appreciate new standards such as a center armrest and rear vents. Higher editions let you pick power-adjustable seats with power-heat functions. Also on board, you’ll find ambient lighting and an information color display. Available in three touchscreen sizes, UConnect technology is enhanced by the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For the first time, you can get a power liftgate for this model. Additionally, the 2018 Jeep Compass now has a multi-level cargo hold, giving owners extra organizational and storage tools.
Under the hood, the 2018 Compass has gained more horsepower from its upgraded Tigershark engine. It produces 180 horsepower and has stop-start capability, reducing fuel use in city driving. Drivers have a choice between a manual, a six-speed automatic, and a new nine-speed automatic. Handling has been improved due to its special small-wide architecture and its fully independent suspension. For the first time, there’s a Compass Trailhawk edition. With skid plates and higher ground clearance, it can make the most out of its specialized Jeep four-wheel drivetrain. Active Drive Low permits a 20:1 crawl ratio. Directional torque can be sent to a single wheel whenever needed. A rock setting helps you get more out of the Jeep SelecTerrain Management system. Extra water-proofing reduces the danger of driving through 18 inches of standing water. Part of the Compass architecture is a new inner safety cage to prevent force from reaching the passengers. The Jeep also has a driver’s knee airbag, bringing its airbag count to seven. For the first time, you can get crash avoidance systems. A LaneSense warning recognizes when the crossover strays from its lane and alerts the driver about the departure. A blind spot monitor takes care of another side traffic danger by reducing the chances of making a lane change when a car is too close. The rear cross-traffic performs a similar function when the car is in reverse. A forward collision warning provides an audible and visual alert, signaling the driver to slow or stop.
